Oh hi! It's me! I haven't posted in months! I'm going to go ahead and blame the baby I'm currently growing because wow, pregnancy is exhausting. How did I work with my first one? Yikes. Anyways, I'm due in August! Yay for babies! The books claim I should be getting my energy back just any day now (ahem) so I'm hoping to start posting here more regularly.
So....toddlers are indeed crazy. They are crazy awesome most of the time but sometimes they are just straight up crazy. I often tell my husband that the mood swings of a 2.5 year old toddler make me FEAR the teen years. And I'll admit, I think my toddler is fairly easy most of the time - we're lucky. But we are not immune from the normal toddler stuff.
Lately Audrey wants to CHOOSE everything. She wants a strawberry and there is one left. Yet, I can't give it to her - she has to CHOOSE which one she wants. When only one remains. See? Crazy. She often needs to select which cup she wants, which plate, which shoes, etc etc. We've entered the phase of very strong preferences. So enter, the self serve toddler snack box.
I saw this idea forever ago on a blog and filed it away in my memory. Seemed like a good idea at the time but now? Now it seemed BRILLIANT. I just filled a few snack size bags with A's favorite snacks, grabbed an old shoe box, a marker and some paper and voila! I cannot express how happy she was when I showed her this and she LOVES picking her own snacks out. Its all the same stuff we offer her but the option to pick it on her own is toddler GOLD. In theory she could come and grab something out of the pantry without us helping but she always asks us first. Eventually I'll add something similar in the fridge when the idea of her, a tube of yogurt and the couch doesn't send me into a panic.
Happy snacking!
